I don't know much about Adolph's and Annie's life. I do have a few stories about Anna from the time she was in the 8th Grade.
Anna dropped out in the 8th grade and the story goes....
Anna was bored with school and would walk with her brothers and sisters to the local Catholic school. As her brothers and sisters would walk into school, Anna would go to the Church and skip school. After doing this a while, the teacher sent a note home with Anna to be signed by her mother. Anna did not take the note home, rather she placed an X where the signature should be. The teacher asked why her mother had not signed the paper and Anna replied that her mother could not write. This was a lie. Her mother had attended college in Ireland before emigrating here to America.
Eventually her mother discovered Anna's lie. She then insisted that if she did not want to go to school that she would then go to work at the phone company as an operator. This is what she did.
